Description
The STIHL MS 500i Light with 63cm (25in) bar is a high-power professional petrol chainsaw designed for forestry work and processing large timber. STIHL describes it as the first high-power chainsaw with electronically controlled fuel injection (STIHL Injection), using sensors to manage fuel delivery and ignition for consistent running and easier starting in changing conditions.
With 79.2cc displacement and 5.0 kW output, it’s suited to felling, cutting to length and delimbing hardwood where strong torque and fast chain response matter. STIHL states the chain reaches 0–100 km/h in around 0.25 seconds, and lists a power-to-weight ratio of 1.24 kg/kW.
The Light guide bar keeps the saw balanced, and features like side-mounted chain tensioning, captive bar nuts, an HD2 air filter and anti-vibration help reduce downtime and fatigue. Tool-free caps make refuelling faster, while a controlled-delivery oil pump and STIHL Ematic oiling system are designed to deliver the right amount of bar oil for the job.
Supplied with a 63cm (25in) bar and 3/8″ chain setup, with a 785 mL fuel tank for solid run time between fills.
