Built for professional forestry and arborist work, the STIHL MS 500i is a high-output petrol chainsaw for felling, limbing and cutting to length in hardwood. This version is supplied with a 50 cm (20″) ES Light guide bar for reduced fatigue and better balance.

STIHL Injection (electronically controlled fuel injection) continuously adjusts fuel delivery using pressure and temperature sensors, helping the saw start and run consistently across changing conditions. STIHL states the chain can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 0.25 seconds and the saw achieves a 1.24 kg/kW power-to-weight ratio. Power comes from a 79.2 cc engine rated at 5.0 kW.

For day-to-day practicality it includes side-mounted chain tensioning, tool-free tank caps, captive nuts, a controlled-delivery oil pump with STIHL Ematic lubrication, and an HD2 air filter designed to keep fine dust out for longer service life. Manual decompression, ElastoStart and an anti-vibration system support easier starting and more comfortable long sessions.
