Zero Turn & Ride-on Mowers
So you get the best performance from your equipment we have compiled a list of tips for you.
- This is a brand-new machine. All the belts, pulleys and moving parts are fresh out of the factory. We recommend that you run the machine in for 30 minutes on low grass or easy lawn before trying to cut high grass. Putting your mower straight into heavy work could cause a belt to snap.
- Know the land you are about to mow. If your grass is long and you can not see rocks, tree roots or other stuff, borrow your neighbour’s mower or get a slasher to get the grass down.
- Safety first – make sure if you are working on slopes you have room to stop or the mower has a place to go if you get in trouble. Remember mowers are heavy and even the slightest of slopes (1 – 5 degrees) can see your stopping ability change.
- When finished mowing, use a blower to clean, remove any dust, grass and especially wet grass from your machine. Debris such as grass can stick to belts and cause issues next time you mow.
- First service – You should change the engine oil between 5 & 10hrs of use, just like a new car services after that refer to maintenance schedule.
- Check your air filter and engine oil on a regular basis (every 2nd or 3rd mow) Do not blow out your filter.
- Lastly put fuel in before you go out, nothing worse than getting to the other side of the property and running out of fuel.
- For any maintenance you perform on your equipment please refer to the supplier’s maintenance guild so you don’t damage your equipment.
- When using mulch kits, make sure you run at full revs and only mulch 1/3rd of the height of your grass. If high grass mow with side chute.
- Note this is not a full list of looking after your machine, just some basics issues that occur. Please read your engine and machine manuals or contact us if unsure.
